Poradnik: Rzeka.
Tutorial: River.

A week ago, I presented the preliminarily prepared river terrain modules.

Today, I have a short tutorial for you, in which I’ll show how I built the modular river.

I started by preparing the separators where the individual modules will connect, ensuring they fit together properly.

I cut the separators from XPS foam and then glued them with polymer adhesive to the modules cut from plasticard.

The next step was to create the riverbanks. For this, I used XPS foam cut into strips, which I once again glued to the edges of the modules using polymer adhesive. The foam strips are easy to shape, so forming the banks was a smooth and effortless process.

After the glue had dried, I applied plaster filler over the riverbanks made from the foam strips. Once the plaster had set, I smoothed the banks using sanding sponges.

Na tak przygotowane moduły nałożyłem różnego rodzaju pasty strukturalne, przykleiłem różnego rodzaju posypki i piasek, muszelki oraz kamienie, a na koniec nałożyłem zmieszaną z klejem do drewna ziemię do kwiatów.I applied various types of texture pastes to the prepared modules, then glued on different types of scatter materials and sand, as well as small shells and stones. Finally, I added potting soil mixed with wood glue.

Ponieważ, po pomalowaniu zamierzam zalać moduły żywicą, z przeźroczystych okładek do bindowania wyciąłem paski, której klejem polimerowym przykleiłem do krawędzi, którymi stykać ze sobą będą te moduły.Since I plan to pour resin over the modules after painting, I cut strips from transparent binding covers and glued them with polymer adhesive to the edges where the modules will connect with each other.

Finally, I applied another layer of potting soil mixed with wood glue, sealing the joints of the transparent strips, which I had also trimmed to match the shape of the riverbanks. I added a few extra stones, and with that, I completed this stage of the project.

And this is how the river modules look after completing the first stage of the project.

Poradnik: Kładka.
Tutorial: Footbridge.

Do zbudowanie kładek, które mogliście zobaczyć na zdjęciach TUTAJ dwa tygodnie temu podczas prezentacji ruin od Kromlech.eu, użyłem miedzianego drutu, patyczków do kawy oraz klejów do drewna i cyjanoakrylowegoTo build the footbridges, which you could see in the photos on the DansE MacabrE blog HERE  two weeks ago during the presentation of the ruins from Kromlech.eu, I used copper wire, coffee sticks, and wood and cyanoacrylate glue.

Na zdjęciu poniżej możecie zobaczyć pocięte na mniejsze fragmenty patyczki do kawy, z których zrobię trzy przykładowe kładkiIn the photo below you can see coffee sticks cut into smaller pieces, from which I will make three sample footbridges.

Do sklejenia poprzecznych desek użyłem kleju do drewna... I used wood glue to glue the cross planks to the bridge...

...after some thought I also added smaller pieces of cross planks and wrapped the whole thing in ropes made of twisted copper wire.

I wrote about how to make ropes from copper wire, among others, HERE.

Finally, you can reinforce the whole thing with cyanoacrylate glue, but remember to use a larger amount of cyanoacrylate glue either outdoors or in a well-ventilated room.

And this is how the example footbridges look, similarly to the rope bridge, here too you are limited only by your imagination and you can prepare many different variants in this way.

If you have reached this far, leave a comment!

Poradnik: Most linowy.
Tutorial: Rope bridges.

Jeśli jesteś tu nowy, to cykl o którym mówię, znajdziesz TUTAJ

  • cążki do cięcia drutu
  • penseta
  • ręczne wiertarki z wiertłami o średnicy 1 mm i 3 mm
  • nóż Olfa
  • klej cyjanoakrylowy
  • klej do drewna
  • patyczki do kawy
  • wykałaczki
  • bambusowa listewka o 5x5 mm
  • zwój cienkiego, miedzianego drutu
Używam miedzianego drutu, bo taki akurat mam w swoich zapasach.
If you visit DansE MacabrE regularly, you know that for the past few weeks, on Thursdays, I've been presenting progress on the ruin models from Kromlech.eu, which I'll be using during games in Warheim FS.

If you're new here, you can find the series I'm talking about HERE.

While evaluating the ruins that you could see HERE last week, I decided to build a few rope bridges.

As usual, before I started building the rope bridge I didn't bother searching the Internet for existing guides, but I decided to reinvent the wheel and today on the DansE MacabrE blog I'm going to show you what I came up with.

It took me a few days to prepare this tutorial, or at least enough that I managed to replace the cutting mat and clean up my workshop in the meantime. I wrote more about it HERE.

As I have already written, the construction of rope bridges in my case was spontaneous and not preceded by any deeper thoughts, which is why the photo you can see below was the last one I took, although it does not include all the tools described in the text, because of course I did not remember everything.

The construction of the first rope bridge, including the idea of the method below, took me about 2 hours, while the construction of each subsequent one took less than 1 hour.

When I started building, I didn't know what tools I would use, but in the end, I needed the following tools, among others:
  • wire cutters
  • round nose pliers, used as pliers, because it's convenient for me to use wire with this tool
  • tweezers
  • hand drills with 1 mm and 3 mm diameter drills
  • Olfa knife
  • cyanoacrylate glue
  • wood glue
  • coffee sticks
  • toothpicks
  • 5x5 mm bamboo strip
  • coil of thin copper wire
For the rope bridge and generally for making ropes that I use in other projects, I use copper wire because that's what I have in my stash. You can also use steel wire, although it can be a bit more difficult to work with, but it may not require stiffening with cyanoacrylate glue.

Następnie obracam haczyk palcami skręcając druciki do otrzymania pożądanego splotu.

Choć uzyskane w ten sposób liny można później łączyć ze sobą bez większego problemu, to warto jednak zrobić je nieco dłuższe niż Wasz most, ale dokładne wymiary musi sobie sami ustalić.
I started working on the rope bridge by preparing the ropes. For this purpose, I twisted two copper wires together.

There are many twisting techniques, I do it in such a way that I wrap one end on a hook and grab the other with pliers. Then I turn the hook with my fingers, twisting the wires until I get the desired braid.

Although the ropes obtained in this way can be connected together later without any major problems, it is worth making them slightly longer than your bridge, but you have to determine the exact dimensions yourself..

After preparing the ropes, I started building the rope bridge.

First, I decided to make two entrances/exits from bamboo beams, strips from coffee sticks and a toothpick.

To do this, I cut the bamboo beams into 3 cm sections, and from the coffee sticks I prepared two 4 cm strips, and from the toothpick I cut off the sharp ends and cut the rest into 4 sections.

Then, using a 3 mm drill, I drilled holes on one side of the beams, and similarly drilled holes in the strips.

Additionally, with a sharp knife, I slightly cut the drilled ends of the beams and the edges of the strips at an angle.

With a 1 mm drill, I drilled holes in the beams at a distance of less than 1 cm from the other end. In the case of the prototype rope bridge built here, I pulled the ropes from the railing through these holes, but for subsequent bridges I gave up drilling holes and simply wrapped the rope around the beam and glued it with cyanoacrylate glue.

I inserted pins from a cut toothpick into the 3 mm diameter holes drilled in the beams and smeared the whole thing with wood glue and assembled it as in the photo.

After the glue dried, I cut off the protruding pins with a sharp knife.

Kolejny krok to owinięcie wokół belek pierwszego wejścia/wyjścia dwóch lin, którymi będę oplatał deski mostu... The next step is to wrap two ropes around the first entrance/exit beams, which I will use to wrap the bridge boards...

...deski to pocięte na 3 cm odcinki patyczki do kawy...the boards are coffee sticks cut into 3 cm sections.

Budowa właściwego mostu linowego jest prosta.

Pomiędzy dwie liny wkładam fragment patyczka do kawy, a następnie skręcam druciki tworząc splot o długości około 5 mm w ten sposób, by mocno zacisnęły się wokół deski. Następnie wkładam kolejną deskę i skręcam druciki...

I tak do momentu uzyskania o pożądanej długości.
Building a proper rope bridge is quite simple.

I put a piece of a coffee stick between two ropes, then twist the wires to form a braid about 5 mm long so that they tighten tightly around the board. Then I put in another board and twist the wires...

And so on until we get a rope bridge of the desired length.

Na drugim końcu pozostawiłem liny luźne, by ułatwić sobie mocowanie pionowych łączników lin.
After obtaining the desired length of the rope bridge, I wrapped the ends of the ropes around the beams of the second entrance/exit.

Then I placed both ends on a platform and bent the center of the rope bridge downwards, and through the 1 mm diameter holes drilled in the beams I threaded a single rope, which will be the handrail.

On the second entrance/exit I left the ropes loose to make it easier to attach the vertical rope connectors.

Pionowe łączniki zrobiłem tnąc linę na odcinki o długości około 4 cm, które następnie lekko zagiąłem na końcach, tam by środkowa część miała około 2 cmI made the vertical connectors by cutting the rope into sections about 4 cm long, which I then slightly bent at the ends so that the middle part was about 2 cm long.

Mocowanie pionowych łączników zaczynam od oplecenia jednego końca wokół dolnej liny, a następnie drugiego wokół górnej liny.

Po przymocowaniu pożądanej ilości pionowych łączników, pomiędzy górną a dolną linąoplotłem drugi koniec poręczy wokół belki i dodałem drugą linę, którą oplotłem poręcz na całej długości.
I start attaching the vertical connectors by wrapping them around the bottom rope and then around the top rope.

After attaching the desired number of vertical connectors, I wrapped the other end of the handrail around the beam and added a second rope that I wrapped around the handrail along its entire length.

The next step is to coat the ropes with cyanoacrylate glue, which will stiffen the rope bridge once it dries.

It is important to do this in a well-ventilated room, or even outside, because the glue fumes can irritate the eyes and respiratory tract.

Tak zrobiony most linowy jest na tyle sztywny, że bez większego problemu można na nim postawić ciężki metalowy model Darkrasp, Death Priest od Reaper MiniaturesThe rope bridge made in this way is stiff enough that you can place a heavy metal model of Darkrasp, Death Priest from Reaper Miniatures on it without any major problems.

This is just an example of how to make a rope bridge.

Using the method below, I also made two broken rope bridges, which you could see in the photos presented last week, which you can find HERE.

You can also make bridges with broken railings, missing planks, and whatever else you can imagine.

If you made it this far, please leave a comment!
