Warsztat: The A-SPACE od A-Case.
Workshop: The A-SPACE from A-Case.

After moving to a new home that took place some time ago, I found a space for a workshop in the attic.

Carrying out in itself was not a pleasant one, and during it a lot of mockups, mainly those from GW have been broken and now in parts are waiting for re-gluing

During the transport I had to dismantle the lighting that I had mounted on the showcases and it was also damaged but this is a story for another post.

And today, if you allow me, I will tell you, or rather I will show you something completely different - though still related to showcase.

The attic where I set up the workshop has a few flaws, firstly it is unheated and not air-conditioned, which means that it is cold in the winter, and in the summer it is hot - so in general it should not complain. The second major disadvantage is the sloping walls and if the floor has a reasonable surface, the higher it is, and the height is not the best - just that the Detolf site from IKEA will fit in.

Undoubtedly, the advantage of the attic is that I fit there 7 Detolf sites that when increasing the number of shelves gives a reasonable surface for storing models.

And today, if you want to read the entry to the end, I will show you one way to increase the number of shelves that you will soon be able to use.

Poniżej przygotowałem dla Was unboxing zestawu.

What you see in the picture above is The A-Space system from A-Case mounted on the Detolf showcase from IKEA.

A-Case will soon take off with The A-Space campaign on Kickstarter so I encourage you to follow the company profile on Facebook if you are interested in aesthetic enlargement of space on your showcase.

Below I let myself prepare for you a quick unboxing of The A-Space set from A-Case.

I received the set packed in a solid cardboard box. After opening, inside I found 16 pins and 4 made of acrylic shelves.

Shelves for transport are protected with a protective foil, which should be removed from both sides.

Bez jeżdżenia do sklepów budowlanych i szukania szklarza.
After removing the protective foil and removing the pins from the string bag, I took up the assembly.

The first note of the pins is easier to assemble when placing the showcase, but if you already have a complex Detolf, then you can do it too.

As you can see in the picture below, I use measuring spoons made of neodymium magnets to measure the correct height.

Such a measure first holds the pin, and second allows you to set each of the four pins at the same height.

The pins are long enough to hold the shelf firmly but at the same time short enough to be manipulated and rotated along the axis, which, as you can see, facilitates assembly.

Nuts even tightened with fingers securely hold the pins and do not need to tighten them, although I used pliers in tests but believe me, you do not need them.

After screwing the pins, you can mount the shelves.

I do not know if this is clearly seen in the picture, but the shelves have different notches at the front and others at the back.

Installation of the shelf should be started from the rear, that is, after inserting the back edge of the shelf with horizontal notches on the pins, leave the shelf so that the vertical notches at the front edge slide on the pins.

And that's it. Without going to construction stores and without looking for a glazier.

...i dzięki przemyślanej konstrukcji uchroni Was przed największym koszmarem modelarza.
According to the manufacturer's assurances, each shelf should withstand a weight of 11 kg and they are dedicated to Detolf showcases from IKEA, and the price of a set containing 4 shelves and 16 pins will oscillate around USD 65.

Is it worth paying the equivalent of Detolf's showcases for additional space.

If you really need it, this is an option worth considering, because at the moment there are two other sensible ways to install additional shelves.

The first is to have a skilled friend of a welder and painter who, at cost, will weld you and paint you an additional beam on the shelves. It will also be necessary to visit the glazier and order additional shelves.

The second option, slightly cheaper than the The A-Space system, are 6 mm rope clamps, each costing about USD 2 per piece, plus a visit to the glazier and purchase of additional glass shelves.

The A-Space from A-Case is not the cheapest version but at the moment it will probably be the fastest and easiest to implement and finally the most aesthetic...

... and thanks to the thoughtful design, it will protect you from the modeler's biggest nightmare.
